What is LifeWorks Families?

What is LifeWorks Families?
LifeWorks Families is an employment support course for spouses, partners, and other dependants of those currently serving in the UK Armed Forces, or of those who have been recently discharged.
It has been designed specifically for military dependants and aims to help with all aspects of an individual’s search and move into work.
The courses usually run over 3 days (Tues-Thurs) starting at 09:30 each day and finishing at 15:00, but is entirely flexible when required.
What kind of things does the course cover?
The course covers all aspects of employability skills including:
CV writing
Interviews
Covering letters
Confidence building
Recognising your skills
Job searching and accessing the hidden job market
Access to an online exercise called a Career Preference Profiler (CPP) which will take you through a series of questions or statements that you complete online at your own pace and usually takes under 20 minutes. Your answers to these questions provide a unique picture of what type of jobs and work you would be suited to and would enjoy doing. By analysing your unique combination of career preferences, we can give you a targeted list of choices which specify not only the field of your interest but what occupations you could explore within this field set. This is then discussed with you through one of our Vocational Assessors who can help explain the results and provide helpful feedback.
Can I still contact you after the course?
One of the exciting things about LifeWorks Families is the process we call ReachBack, which in essence is the follow up.  All those who have attended the course have indefinite access to an employability coach who can support them in any employment related aspect and very often this is one of the coaches they’ve already met from the course.  Typically, this service provides help with CVs, replying to live job adverts and interview practice (sometimes over Skype) well after attending the course. As far as we’re aware, this service is unique.
How much does it cost?
The LifeWorks Families course is fully funded, which means it’s FREE at point of delivery and so will cost you nothing!
What if I can't attend a full course, can you still help?
The answer to this question is yes we can and do. We have an additional service calledRemote Support.
So, what is Remote Support?
Our Remote Support Service is available to those who, for whatever reason, can’t attend one of our 3 day courses held throughout the UK and overseas.  Or, maybe want help with just one or two areas in their search for work. Again this service is fully funded.
What support can I get?
All support is given by one of our highly experienced employability coaches who will be able to help with any aspect of your job search and move into work.  Some things they typically give support on are:
  • CV writing
  • Interviews
  • Covering letters
  • Confidence building
  • Recognising your skills
We can also offer a helpful 1-2-1 session with a fully qualified Vocational Assessor who can take you through a range of psychometric profiling tools that will help you identify new career paths or even enhance your current position.
How do I register for Remote Support or a course?
It’s easy, just give us a call on 0800 319 6844
or head over to wearelifeworks.org.uk … and we will take it from there
