Chipping Norton Theatre is a restlessly busy and ambitious theatre and arts centre in the Cotswolds. Bringing over 50,000 people every year to a town of little over 6,000, The Theatre delivers a year-round programme of theatre, comedy, music, film and participatory activities for audiences across the region. More recently, we have grown as a producing house, creating three major productions each year and growing a stronger and more loyal audience as a result. The small two-person technical team help to deliver both the in-house produced shows and shows from touring companies/artists.
The Theatre, sited in a Victorian former Salvation Army Citadel, is a charming and warm environment for this wide range of activities. In addition to the main 200+ seat auditorium, we have a range of workshop and rehearsal spaces and a gallery exhibiting local and national artists. The Theatre has a contracted staff of 18, and over 100 casuals and volunteers.
We currently produce 3 shows every year and are now regularly touring our work, reviving old work and co-producing with other venues. Our yearly pantomime is a tradition for ourselves and our community; including some customers who have attended every year since they began. This position is involved in the creating of these shows from sourcing props and set, to design work on sound and lighting. The opportunities for creative input in this, and in what areas, is completely flexible with the current staff at any time.
This is a full time position offered on a salary between £16,000-17,000 pa dependant on experience. It would be an ideal role for a recent graduate or someone earlier in their career, we are fully prepared to provide training and help those looking to build their career. We are a friendly, welcoming and continuously creative team, and are looking for the right character to join us, and extend a warm, can-do, proactive welcome to visiting companies and casts.
