Mosaic Artist for New Memorial for The Leys, Witney

Salary / Fee:
£8000 is the value of the whole commission
Closing Date:
Wednesday, 10 May, 2017
Witney Town Council with West Oxfordshire District Council are looking to commission a mosaic artist to create a bespoke commemorative artwork for the new memorial corner at The Leys in Witney.
We are seeking a mosaic artist who is experienced in working in the public realm and skilled in working as part of a consortium or partnership and as part of a team. Ideally the artist will be able to offer participatory workshops with the public such as families, but if this is not possible two artists can be commissioned for the two different work areas.
Witney Town Council will be re-locating an existing stone tablet commemorating the purchase of The Leys recreation area as a memorial to those from the town who lost their lives in the First World War. This has presented the opportunity for a new artwork in the new position, funded via contributions from a nearby development.
Commission value – £8000. This budget is inclusive of all design fees, preparatory work, materials and installation. The budget also includes public workshop fees, materials and their preparation.
Artists are invited to visit the site on Wed 26 April 2017 at 10.30am and submit expressions of interest by Wed 10 May 12 noon. Interviews are on Wed 17 May.
